Pacers, Pac-man and Bengals, Oh-My!

February 28, 2007 · 1 Comment

“With his daughter’s first birthday just days away and his parents staying with him at Caesar’s Palace, Jones didn’t come to Las Vegas looking for trouble,” Moss said. That’s Pac-man Jones’ publicist, Cheryl Moss. He wasn’t looking for trouble on the eve of his daughters first birthday,  he just went to the strip club to blow off some much needed stress. Poor guy, life in the NFL  must be so rough.  I am sick of these athletes getting away with everything.  Tank Johnson needed permission to play in Superbowl XLI because of all of the guns they found in his house. Maybe he was planning on going to Iraq after the big game to help the troops.  If they found all those guns in my house, I wouldn’t even be able to WATCH the game, let alone play in it. Washington Redskin Sean Taylor some how got community service after he beat down and pulled a gun on a man. Do all athletes carry guns?  Just ask the Cincinnati Convicts, I mean Bengals. Isn’t that whole team on parole?

Jamaal Tinsley and Marquis Daniels were taken straight from a win over Milwaukee to the police station to turn themselves in after charges were filed in a fight at a local bar. They claim they are innocent. Of course they are. Former Pacer Stephen Jackson was hit by a car during a fight outside a strip club last October. (another stripclub story)  He faces felony and misdemeanor charges for, guess what, firing a gun. Something must be in the water in Indiana. Look I know athletes, movie stars, rock stars, rappers, they have different laws then the blue collar worker. I’m an ex-athlete who couldn’t make the pros and now I am a blue collar worker, and would love to have a shot at making millions.  I think these guys lose perspective of not only money, but of life.  Your daughter is going to be 1 Pac-man. Go spend time with her, so she doesn’t end up working at the stripclub in 17 years.

Tigers in ‘07

February 27, 2007 · 2 Comments

My Detroit Tigers are 1-0 with a 14-0 shutout!! Well I guess I’m jumping the gun since it’s the first exibition game, and it was against Florida Southern. But I’m very excited for baseball this year. It’s been along time in Detroit since I can honestly say, I EXPECT Detroit to go to the ALCS if not the World Series. This team is loaded. Starting pitching looks good, Zumaya, Rodney, and even Jones out of the pen. Craig Monroe and Brandon Inge are coming of age, and my big prediction that Gary Sheffield will have a monster season. 20-30 homers and 100 RBI’S. I don’t see this team losing the World Series unless that ugly injury bug jumps up and gets them. If not, sorry Yanks, Sox, Twins,…..it’s the Tigers world and y’all just live in it!  (But the Bluejays as a dark horse scare me!)

Don’t Forget February 26th 1993

February 26, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Today is February 26th, and tomorrow being my birthday I wanted to see what historical events happened over time on Feb. 27th. Well before I could get to the the 27th, I read about today. February 26th 1993. The first time some asshole tried to blow up the World Trade Center. Just after noon a bomb exploded in the North Tower parking garage. An Islamic extremest Ramzi Ahmed Yousef, drove a van containing a 1500 pound bomb and left it under the North Tower hoping to bring it down.  More than one thousand people were injured and 6 were killed, but the tower stood. When Yousef was caught wondering  through the sand in Packistan, he admitted to having a plot to kill Pope John Paul II, and blowing up 15 American Airliners in a 48 hour span. Him and his buddies all got life in prison, doesn’t seem like much of a punishment for killing six people and attempting to kill thousands.  If  that doesn’t deserve the death penalty (um…Tim McVeigh ring a bell) I don’t know what does.  We all know that the ball was dropped alot on 9/11, but I’m still wondering how you get a 1500 pound bomb in the parking garage. Nevertheless, 9/11 was awful, but for the thousands injured and the 6 people killed on February 26th, lets not forget them.  February 26th 1993, a terrible day in American History.

Big Ben Back In Motown

February 25, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Big Ben makes his return as a Chicago Bull to the Palace today.  As I’m writing this, it’s 14-9 Chicago (enjoy that early lead cuz your gonna lose)  and I’m so happy to hear the fans boo Wallace every time he touches the ball. They should boo him. Sports are entertainment. Hard working people take their families to games and spend their hard earned money, they have the right to boo.  Ben’s job is playing basketball. Just like most people, if you get offered more money you’ll probably take it. Can’t blame him for that. But this is sports. It’s supposed to be entertainment, a release from everyday life. If he worked at  Ford Motor Company and left to go to General Motors, probably people wouldn’t boo him every time he went back to Ford’s. But it’s sports, so now you are the enemy Ben. You said you would be surprised if you get booed in your return to Detroit. Well I’m not. Just ask A-rod how it was when he went back to Seattle.  Miss your D- Ben, and can’t blame ya’ for taking the cash……but cherish the ring you won here in Detroit, cuz it ain’t happening in Chicago!

Are You Ready For Some Arena Ball?

February 23, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Does anyone miss the XFL besides me? It was so cool. Guys tryin’ their all for bum pay. You only got paid if you won.  Maybe the NFL should look into that. Then no one on the Detroit Lions or Oakland Raiders would get paid! I am pumped up for the real football season to begin. The Arena Football league kicks off next week. I love that sport. Fast pace action and high-scoring games. Many ex-NFL guys can be found in the arena league, and the competition is fierce. Even though I know the arena league can’t compete with the NFL, it still is fun to watch. No fair catches and you might get knocked right into the crowd when your running down the sidelines! My predictions… American Conference Final four..Colorado, Arizona, Las Vegas, San Jose….National Conference… Dallas, Philly, Austin, Orlando. If you never watched Arena Football, give it a shot, it’s really good entertainment and if you have a team in your city, go check’em out. Great football action at well over 50% cheaper then an NFL ticket.

Illini Chief Proves We Are Not The Land Of The Free

February 21, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Offensive? I don’t see it. And I’m sure the University of Illinois doesn’t mean it to be. We are becoming less and less of a free society by the day.  We are the land of the free and the home of the brave…if you keep your mouth shut and always talk P.C. The Dixie Chicks spoke up against War and President Bush and caught hell for it. Now 2 years later, everyone is saying the same thing they said. Now after years of Chief Illiniwek dancing, it’s become offensive. This P.C. world we are living in today is getting to be a joke. So the next logical step is to change the Atlanta Braves rally chop. And the Florida State logo. I’m not a Native American, but I don’t see the harm in these things. I personally have never felt the dance Chief Illiniwek performs was to mock Native Americans. I actually thought it was pretty cool. Good-bye Chief, I know you will be missed.

Spartans Will Roll, A-rod Needs a Dinner Pal

February 20, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Well tonight the Michigan State Spartans host Wisconsin in college basketball. Wisconsin is #1 in the country but does that really mean much at this time of the year? College basketball polls are so much different than college football. How many teams have been #1 in college hoops this year? 50? It seems that way. There will be a new one by the weekend because I feel the Spartans will beat Wisconsin tonight at home. Home court means alot in Big Ten basketball, and the Spartans are 16-1 at home this season. Anyone worried that A-rod and Jeter aren’t eating together these days? What a joke to even talk about!  They are still great friends A-rod says, they just don’t eat together anymore. That’s news?? Hey Yankees, don’t worry about A-rod, it’s your joke of a pitching staff that will be your downfall again this year! If you happen to be in a Vegas casino take Michigan State at home +2 and UNLV at home -3 and thank me in the morning.

Cubs 3 to 1?? Holy Cow!!!!

February 19, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I like to gamble. I make no bones about that. Some people think if you like to gamble you must have a gambling problem, like if a person enjoys a few beers with dinner they must be a drunk. Not always so. I find there is an art to the gaming industry. You have to have money management, never bet more than you have, and if you study you can make money. And most important, never bet with your heart. That can be a very bad thing. So I’m looking at the MLB Baseball odds to win the pennant and World Series. The leagues have never been this open before. No real dominate teams in either league. I like the Tigers in the American League, Pitching looks to good and you can still get good odds at 7 to 1. But the National League is wide open in my opinion. Florida and Arizona are my dark horses, especially at 20 to 1 to win the pennant. But whats makin me laugh so hard I’m cryin and can barely see the computer monitor is the Chicago Cubs are 3 to 1 to win the pennant??? Is this a miss print? The Detroit Tigers went from worst to first but not over night as some people may think. They are loaded in there farm system now with all kinds off pitch potential. Pitching is the key, just like defense in football. So how does Vegas have the Cubbies at 3 to 1? I’ll give you Zambrano…he’s money. But Kerry Wood? Mark Prior? This is a broken record in Chicago, and to make them a favorite to win the pennant? Maybe picking up Ted Lilly and his career 5+ ERA will help. When i seen this line in Vegas all I could say is…. Holy Cow!!!
